Analyzing the current state of women’s wrestling, Nursultan Temirov spoke about the national team’s results this year, the potential of the youth reserve and preparations for upcoming major competitions.

“This year, the women’s team took part in several important international competitions and won a total of 14 medals. These include 4 gold, 2 silver and 8 bronze medals. The 6 medals won by the youth team at the U23 Asian Championships proved the strong potential of the future reserve.

Gulmaral Yerkebayeva’s bronze medal in the 76 kg weight category at the Senior Asian Championships also showed that it is necessary to improve the quality of preparation of the national team athletes and strengthen internal competition in each weight category. For the coaching staff, the most important task now is to select the most prepared, consistent and internationally competitive athletes in each weight category for the upcoming Asian Games and World Championships.

In women’s wrestling, it is important to increase international experience, compete more often against strong opponents, maintain intensity until the end of the bout, and systematically organize weight cutting and recovery. Our goal is to form a team capable of delivering consistent results and to prepare a competitive squad for the 2028 Summer Olympic Games,” said Nursultan Temirov.
