UWW representatives pay working visit to Astana as part of preparations for the 2026 World Wrestling Championships

On July 9-10, Astana hosted a working visit by representatives of United World Wrestling (UWW) to discuss preparations for the 2026 World Wrestling Championships.

The UWW delegation included Sport Presentation Manager Frédéric Tauchon and TV Production Consultant Denis Harvey. The specialists met with representatives of the Kazakhstan Wrestling Federation, the Championship Organizing Committee, technical contractors and the television partner to discuss the key areas related to staging the tournament at a high level.

On the first day of the visit, working meetings were held on sport presentation, the competition concept, UWW requirements, the organization of the opening and award ceremonies, as well as technical support.

On July 10, a meeting dedicated to television production was held. The participants discussed the camera plan, commentator positions, the Mixed Zone, TV Compound, media areas and other key elements of the international broadcast.

In addition, UWW specialists inspected Barys Arena, reviewing the layout of the field of play, mats, athlete areas, lighting, media infrastructure and spaces designated for television equipment.

Following the visit, the next stages of work were outlined and specific tasks were identified to ensure that the 2026 World Wrestling Championships in Astana are delivered at a high organizational level.
