Zhaksylyk Amiraliuly Ushkempirov is one of the most significant figures in the history of Kazakhstani sport. He was an Olympic champion, a world champion in Greco-Roman wrestling, and a Hero of Labour of Kazakhstan. He became the first ethnic Kazakh athlete to win an Olympic gold medal. His victory at the Moscow Olympic Games marked a historic milestone for Kazakhstan’s wrestling school and inspired future generations of wrestlers. After his competitive career, he continued to contribute to the development of sport and the education of young athletes.
