As part of his working visit to Hungary, Chairman of the Kazakhstan Wrestling Federation Yerkin Okassov visited the István Kozma Wrestling Academy in Budapest. During the meeting, two memorandums aimed at expanding sports cooperation between the two countries were signed.
The first document provides for the development of partnership between the wrestling federations of Kazakhstan and Hungary. The memorandum was signed by Yerkin Okassov and President of the Hungarian Wrestling Federation Tamás Lőrincz.
The agreement includes joint training camps for the national teams, athlete exchange programmes, and participation in competitions held in both countries. Particular attention will also be given to improving the professional qualifications of coaches, referees and technical specialists, introducing modern training methods, and applying advances in sports science.
The parties also agreed to work together on the development of women’s and youth wrestling, the implementation of educational programmes, and the strengthening of cooperation within United World Wrestling.
The second memorandum was signed between the Kazakhstan Wrestling Academy and the István Kozma Hungarian Wrestling Academy Foundation. The document was signed by Yerkin Okassov and László Süle, Chairman of the KIMBA Board of Trustees.
The agreement is aimed at developing internationally competitive wrestlers and preparing future medallists at the Olympic Games and World Championships. The two academies will hold joint training camps and organise exchanges involving athletes and coaches. The document also provides for professional knowledge-sharing among sports physicians, rehabilitation specialists, researchers, nutritionists and strength and conditioning experts.
The partnership will cover the identification of talented young wrestlers, long-term athlete development, post-injury rehabilitation, improvements to nutrition systems, as well as the use of video analysis and modern sports technologies. The parties also intend to organise seminars, technical courses and educational programmes for coaches.
The signed documents will help systematise the exchange of expertise between Kazakhstan and Hungary in wrestling and improve the quality of training for national teams and young athletes.
It should be noted that the international ranking tournament held as part of the Polyák Imre, Varga János and Kozma István Memorial is currently taking place in Budapest. Kazakhstan is represented by 58 wrestlers. Following the competition held from 15 to 18 July, the Kazakhstan national teams in the three wrestling styles have won ten medals: two gold, two silver and six bronze.
