A special feature on Kazakhstan’s international-level referee and UWW educator Igor Ligay has been published on the official Instagram account of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), which has more than 541,000 followers.
The publication tells the story of how an injury forced Igor Ligay to end his wrestling career at an early stage. However, he did not leave the sport and instead chose the path of refereeing. Through determination and continuous professional development, he became one of UWW’s highest-category referees and officiated at the Olympic Games.
Today, Igor Ligay not only officiates at international competitions but also shares his knowledge and experience with young athletes and coaches as a UWW educator. He is taking part in the OCA/UWW Asian Youth Training Camp and Course for Coaches, contributing to the professional development of the next generation.
The Kazakhstan Wrestling Federation is proud of Igor Ligay’s distinguished work on the international stage. His journey is a powerful example of genuine passion for sport, hard work and dedication to one’s goals.
