The second day of Greco-Roman wrestling competitions among athletes under 20 has concluded in Pattaya as part of the U15&U20 Asian Championships.
On the second competition day, Kazakhstan’s youth team won three medals: one silver and two bronze. In the team standings, Kazakhstan scored 141 points and finished 4th overall.
Yerkebulan Anapiya became the Asian Championships silver medalist in the 82 kg weight category. In the semifinal, he defeated Muhammad Sultonzoda of Tajikistan by superiority, but in the final he lost to Iran’s Alireza Abbas Mohammad Hosseini.
Bronze medals for Team Kazakhstan were won by Alpamys Bolatuly in the 60 kg category and Maxim Ukraintsev in the 97 kg category. Bolatuly defeated Japan’s Yusuke Hirota in the third-place bout. Ukraintsev completed the tournament with a bronze-medal victory over China’s Xinyu Liu.
The U20 Greco-Roman wrestling competitions were held on July 1–2. On July 3, women’s wrestling bouts will take place in Pattaya across all ten weight categories. Qualification rounds and semifinals will be held in the morning, followed by repechage bouts.
The finals and medal bouts will begin at 18:00 local time.
