A tripartite Memorandum of Understanding between the Kazakhstan Wrestling Federation, United World Wrestling and the Kazakh National Sports University was signed in Astana as part of the solemn opening ceremony of the Kazakh National Sports University.
The document was signed by Rector of the Kazakh National Sports University Tursynzada Kuangaliyeva, Chairman of the Kazakhstan Wrestling Federation Yerkin Okassov and United World Wrestling President Nenad Lalovic. The memorandum comes into effect on July 2, 2026.
The tripartite document covers key areas such as wrestling education, sports science, athlete development, coach education, scientific research, innovation and international cooperation. The parties emphasized their shared interest in advancing wrestling through academic education, scientific research and professional training.
Under the memorandum, the parties plan to strengthen scientific and academic cooperation in wrestling and related sports, develop educational and certification programs for industry professionals, and implement projects aimed at protecting athletes’ health and improving their performance. The agreement also provides for the organization of joint conferences, seminars, training camps and exchange programs for students, researchers and experts.
One of the key areas of cooperation will be the introduction of modern solutions in sports science, biomechanics, nutrition and sports medicine. These initiatives will help develop the training system for national teams and young athletes on a scientific basis.
According to the document, the Kazakh National Sports University will provide its academic and research capacity, United World Wrestling will offer international technical expertise and methodological support, while the Kazakhstan Wrestling Federation will coordinate the implementation of projects at the national level, ensuring access to training facilities and organizational support.
For the Kazakhstan Wrestling Federation, this memorandum is an important step toward the systematic development of wrestling disciplines in the country, improving the professional level of coaches and sports specialists, and strengthening the position of Kazakhstan wrestling on the international stage.
