Kazakh freestyle wrestler Rizabek Aitmukhan has received recognition from United World Wrestling (UWW). The international governing body named him the Freestyle Wrestler of the Month for May.
The award follows Aitmukhan’s outstanding performance at the U23 Asian Wrestling Championships held in Vietnam, where he captured the gold medal in the 125 kg weight category.
On his way to the title, the Kazakh wrestler secured dominant victories over Kyrgyzstan’s Zhaalan Budashapov (14-4) and Uzbekistan’s Otabek Nazirboev (11-1).
In the final, Aitmukhan left no chance for India’s Lucky, earning a commanding 10-0 technical superiority victory to claim the continental championship title.
It is worth noting that Rizabek Aitmukhan is the first freestyle wrestler in Kazakhstan’s history to become a world champion. He continues to confirm his status as one of the country’s leading wrestling stars on the international stage.
